Driving Change on the Cape and Islands: Take Care Summit Tackles Litter
At the most recent Take Care Summit, two panels of local experts discussed the importance of reducing litter on the Cape. The panels included business leaders, environmental advocates, and local and state government officials, including State Senator Susan Moran and Representative Dylan Fernandes. The emphasis by both panels was on reducing litter before it happens. First, by educating the public, especially our children, about the environmental consequences of roadside litter. Second, by preventing litter at the source of production: encouraging corporations to use less, use more sustainable packaging and through legislation that bans certain products, such as nips and Styrofoam. Read more about the panelists’ ideas and action steps you can take to reduce litter in the CARE news.
